About the Boat
‘Banana Split’ was customised for sail 1770 to be able to offer high speed sailing in safety. She started life as a racing Nacra 5.8 Catamaran and has an interesting past history including national title wins and time as the Hanoi Clubs race vessel based in Vietnam. We have modified her to include keels for the shallow waterways of Round Hill Creek and added a massive trampoline to the fore-deck to almost double the deck space. She has also had her rigging and sails modified to be able to be sailed by a crew of one. Once you are aboard it’s easy to feel her racing heritage as she is still capable of thrilling speeds, all the while feeling at ease to enjoy the natural beauty that we are so lucky to be surrounded by.

Sailing a boat calls for quick action, a blending of feeling with the wind and water as well as with the very heart and soul of the boat itself. Sailing teaches alertness and courage, and gives in return a joyousness and peace that but few sports afford. — George Matthew Adams
